“I had to wait to pass my driving test to embark on a short, not so successful, career as a gymnast. I tried coaching instead, finding I was much better at that.

I enjoyed a long career in coaching – coaching a European Champion and Commonwealth Champion in 2002 – before taking time out to focus on judging. But couldn’t stay away and now coach the junior gymnasts.

The thing I most enjoy about coaching is making a difference to a child, turning an ‘ugly duckling’ into a ‘beautiful swan’ through detailed and specific physical preparation – my area of expertise.”

“I became involved with CMIG around 13 years ago when my daughter began gymnastics. She soon became a competitive gymnast so I became a volunteer in the gym and was encouraged to qualify to coach and judge.

After a break from coaching, I rejoined CMIG and became involved with the recreational side of the club along with my role of Administrator. I now enjoy meeting gymnasts, parents and helping with any queries they may have.

I enjoy coaching, watching the development and achievements of the children as they progress through their skills. There is no nicer feeling than seeing a gymnast achieving a skill after training hard to do so.”
