To remove the old railway bridge in Gorton, the A57 Hyde Road will be closed in both directions from 06:00 on Saturday 22nd February until 23:59 Sunday 23rd February.
If travelling towards Manchester City Centre or the M60/M67 the quickest option to avoid disruption, local diversion routes and delays is to use other key routes via the M60. These are:
- A635 Ashton Old Road
- A6 Stockport Road
- A5103 Princess Road
Using the above routes via the M60 will be quicker than the local diversion routes on Hyde Road and will result in less time spent behind the wheel.
Congestion is expected to be heavy for the majority of the weekend despite their being local diversion. It is therefore recommended that you either use sat-nav with live traffic updates or simply avoid exiting the M60 at junction 24 and leave at junction 1 if travelling North, or junction 23 Ashton if heading South.
If travelling from the City Centre we advise that you check ahead in case of delays and be prepared to exit Hyde Road earlier to get on to Garratt Way. The A6010 is from either Hyde Road or Ashton Old Road and on to Gorton Lane then Crossley Street may be a better approach.
